A showroom full of Marcel Wanders’s exciting and visually overwhelming design. Besides Wanders’s own work, the work of national and international contemporary designers is for sale in this 850-square-metre warehouse. Bring several credit cards, or just feast your eyes.

A gift shop with a wide range of brands, but one very simple business concept: everything they sell is designed in the Netherlands. Think lovely knitted Miffy cuddly toys, but also decorative homeware, fashion accessories, stationery and small artworks.

This store / gallery is specialised in plywood furniture and mid-century modern design pieces (both vintage and re-issues). Beneath an original 16th-century wooden ceiling, WonderWood also sells the work of current Dutch designers and artists such as Richard Hutten, Jeroen Wand, Dirk van der Kooij, and Studio Job.

Ninety different local designers and makers sell their highly original objects here; think cutting boards made from local trees, Amsterdam board games, or necklaces shaped like Amsterdam’s street pattern. You might spot one of the designers at work in ‘the Maker Space’. Once a month there’s a big indoor market where you can meet even more makers.

This playful and creative label works together with Dutch designers and offers everything from big furniture pieces to irresistible accessories. Located at KNSM-eiland, it was one of the first stores to lure visitors to this part of Amsterdam and has since become an internationally renowned cornerstone of Dutch design.
