2) Kroon Kaashandel

A tantalising shop for cheese lovers! The owner himself drives to the famous Rungis International Market in Paris to select the most delicious and rare cheeses. His beautiful tiny chèvres complete every cheese board. In addition to cheeses, Kroon also sells high-quality deli meats, like Pata Negra and Bündnerfleisch, among other delicacies.

3) Kalkman

Thanks to his wide choice of high-quality Dutch and foreign cheeses, Kalkman is a favourite cheesemonger in the expat neighbourhood Statenkwartier. The friendly staff is willing to let you taste before you buy. Besides cheese, Kalkman also sells very good home-roasted nuts. It’s hard to leave this shop empty handed.

4) Proefhuys

The owner, Jochem Beijer, is not only a cheesemonger but also an oenologist, a wine expert. In addition to a wide variety of Dutch and foreign cheeses, he sells great wines too. A real treat are the special (seasonal) cheeses like Vacherin, L’Etivaz and clothbound cheddar from Somerset. Jochem knows better than anyone how to pair wine and cheese.

5) Alexanderhoeve Den Haag

Annelies, the owner, is always willing to let you try one of the many cheeses in her shop. She has a huge variety of Dutch and foreign cheeses. She likes to pair cheese with beer, and sells several speciality beers as well. Together with the owners of the famous The Hague beer brand Kompaan she developed an appetising ‘beer cheese’.
