The 5 best outdoor drinking spots in Seattle

1) Bale Breaker & Yonder Cider Taproom

This property has changed hands between a few different purveyors of beer over the years, but the quality of the outdoor space remains the same. Bale Breaker, a Yakima-based brewery, took over recently and has even made some improvements to the massive outdoor seating area. Kids and dogs are everywhere while adults enjoy a wide array of beverages. A great array of different food trucks park nearby almost daily.

2) Fremont Brewery

Ten years ago Fremont Brewery was 1/10 its current size, which is hard to believe when you take in their glorious flowering patio and effortless in- and outdoor flow of their current space. Their success is due to a high-quality product (the beers really are great) and killer marketing (you’ll want merch from here). Grab a flight to try a few classics (like the Interurban IPA) and enjoy all the people-watching outside.

3) Ampersand Cafe on Alki

This small, charming cafe and bakery on Alki Avenue is a great place to get off your feet if you’ve been busy swimming or walking Alki Beach. They have plenty of tables set up out front across the road from the beach where you can enjoy one of their daily pastry specials and a seasonal drink, like a rosewater cardamom latte.

4) Growlerz Taproom

A dog park with beers available for purchase! A more Seattle-like business could not have been created by AI. This space operates as a doggie daycare Monday-Friday. The play area does require a fee (12 dollars per single entry and 100 dollars for an 11-entry pass along with monthly membership options) but it’s worth it for the fun of socializing with other dog parents (and enthusiasts) over brews. No dog required to come, just buy a beer.

5) Old Stove Brewing

Old Stove’s Pike Place Market location offers unparalleled views of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains and Mount Rainier on a clear day from their ample outdoor seating options. Service is surprisingly efficient even on a busy day, although in the height of tourist season (July-August) it may be hard to get a table. Locals flock here on weekdays for happy hour, especially the first nice days of spring.
