5 vibrant street markets in Brussels

1) Jeu de Balle

Every day, starting at 6 am, dealers come to this square to sell boxes of books, dubious oil paintings, art deco lamps, boxes filled with telephones and stacks of ancient LP records. Some dealers have trellis tables. Others lay out their stuff on a carpet. You have no idea what you will find here. A stuffed bear might appear one day, or a beautiful chandelier. The best things are quickly snapped up by professional dealers, so that by midday there is almost nothing left worth buying, unless you are truly interested in a 1962 reel-to-reel tape deck that no longer works.
