1) Soda Books
This store offers the most comprehensive range of national and international magazines and design books (graphics and industry), food and fashion magazines. Unlike other shops, they arrange the magazine covers like in a gallery. All in all a very inspiring collection.
2) L. Werner
Founded in 1878, this bookstore specialises in architecture and the arts, including photography. The shop is located opposite the Brandhorst Collection. Browse their shelves and feel free to check out the Munich architecture gallery at the rear of the shop, which can be accessed through a back door.

3) Buchhandlung Perthel – Buchhandlung am Gasteig
A beautiful old bookshop. There is a harpsichord on the first floor, which the owner only plays when he is alone in the shop. They always carry a good selection of English books, also on Bavarian topics, and they have a range of special and historic postcards for every occasion.
4) CoLibris
A literary bookshop selling fiction, non-fiction, poetry, classics, graphic novels and children’s youth books, as well as travel, cooking, audio books and English literature. CoLibris also has a CD and vinyl music department with rock/pop, jazz, world music and classical music.
5) Antiquariat Hammerstein
This antiquarian bookshop has been around for decades. Come here to enjoy the shop’s special atmosphere. Old issues of a magazine called Simplicissimus, which are always available here, are definitely worth picking up.
