The 5 best places to party after dark in Amsterdam

1) Warehouse Elementenstraat

The western dock area was the scene for many (illegal) rave parties in the nineties. The warehouse at Elementenstraat 25 was closed for years, but re-opened in spring 2014 as Warehouse Elementenstraat. The venue still has an industrial feel to it and hosts regular techno and house parties for up to 2500 revellers.

2) Sexyland World

Perhaps the place in Amsterdam with the most wildly diverse programming, from theatre shows and obscure cinema to performance art, live music, good food and exhibitions. Sexyland World is a collective of creatives that have settled in this clubhouse in Noord. For now. They dream of a far bigger Super Sexyland World.

3) Kanaal 40

Kanaal40 is an interdisciplinary space for art, music and dining, located in a 17th-century former tax office of the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (Dutch East India Company). This historic fact didn’t sit well with the owners, as the VOC played an active part in Dutch colonialism and the international slave trade. They decided to raise their own tax of 40 cents on every bill, which they donate to a refugee organisation.

4) Radion

This used to be a school where dentists trained but now it’s home to one of the more innovative and original cultural platforms of Amsterdam. Located out west, Radion organises regular club nights, performances and lectures. Thanks to their 24-hour permit, nights seamlessly blend into days.

5) Garage Noord

Tiny, quirky and independent Garage Noord opened in 2017 in the rapidly developing former industrial area ‘Hammer quarter’. The club has been called a ‘DIY paradise’, and its line-up is filled with exciting DJ’s that receive an open invitation to play whatever music they feel like. Those who like to start early can enjoy a bite of Surinamese food before the music starts playing.
