5 of the best art galleries in Porto
1) Bairro das Artes
There are over 20 art galleries in and around Rua de Miguel Bombarda, also known as ‘The Arts Neighbourhood’. In fact, some of Lisbon’s best art galleries started here in Porto, such as Galeria Múrias Centeno, Galeria Quadrado Azul and Ó! Galeria. However, the biggest pioneer was Fernando Santos, who opened the first gallery here back in 1993.
2) Nuno Centeno Gallery
Nuno Centeno is an influential contemporary art dealer and a regular participant in art fairs. His first gallery was located in Miguel Bombarda, where he grew as a gallerist. His gallery in Porto is now housed in a historic building in Bonfim.

3) Galeria Municipal do Porto
Galeria Municipal do Porto is a contemporary art gallery run by the City Council of Porto. The exhibitions here change frequently and tend to
focus on recent artistic visual trends, often involving multimedia. It’s located in the wonderful gardens of Palácio de Cristal.
4) Ó! Galeria
This gallery stands out from the rest for its joyful and informal approach. The walls here are full of colourful illustrations and drawings, with exclusive and one-off prints by various artists to take home. They also sell fanzines and books, plus there’s an exhibition area which changes frequently.
5) Senhora Presidenta
Located in the up-and-coming Bonfim neighbourhood, Senhora Presidenta is an art studio and gallery founded by three friends who studied together at Porto’s Faculty of Fine Arts. The focus here is on promoting local artists and beyond, with artworks including ceramics, illustrations, paintings, photography and independent publishing.
