1) The John C. Gifford Arboretum
Take your time strolling through and relaxing in this teaching and research facility. These 500 or so species of tropical plants and trees, originally collected and nurtured in 1947, have survived multiple hurricanes and other catastrophes. Its University of Miami campus scientist caretakers, who use it for educational purposes, welcome visitors for self-guided tours.
